[Short Story - On Phones]

The city skyline lay before her through the telescopic lens, a numb feeling in her stomach and all over her. A feeling of not feeling quite anything, combined with the cold of fall rolling over here. A voice talked to her over a smartphone. She mentally sighed.

"Yes, mom. I'm staying out of trouble." Suburu said lying, looking up from her survey equipment up at the Domino based research facility for Leo Corp. There was something about that place that kept eating at her...

"No, the girls I've met at school are fine. Yes. Trust me. I'm not letting it eat me." She said exasperated, still lying. The truth of the matter was that her sister's disappearance did eat at her. It's why she was in Domino. Her mother knew she was in Domino and at Duel Academy to learn about it. But Suburu also knew her mother only let her go to DA because it was the one place she could learn more about spirits. Magic. The supernatural. That wasn't through means of the family. Her family's legacy was the supernatural.

"Yes. I'm being a good girl. I wanna get into the family business. Eren and Awa have been good to me for help."

And she did want to learn about that... But the fact she knew almost nothing about what happened to her sister. And that was what ate at her the most. What had happened to her sister Haruka several years back. Why did her sister go missing.

And why was it any attempts to find her sister seemed to trace back to Leo Corp. Why was her scrying equipment always leading back to this facility...

"Yes. I love you too." Suburu said, with a somewhat robotic tone, finally ending the call and putting her phone away.

She didn't know why. This is why she and her friends were collecting artifacts. And why she was getting herself into trouble.

Right now, though. She felt numb. She wanted to go eat something. The cold was getting to her legs, due to wearing a skirt. Suburu sighed as she started gathering her scrying equipment, collapsing and breaking it up. Maybe she'd grab something to eat. Warm. Definitely warm like Takoyaki or some hot ramen.

And then she wanted to go back to school and spend time with Kitty. To feel something warm that didn't make her feel so cold and empty, even for a little bit...

She took one more look at the the Domino Leo Corp facility. Any answers she wanted would be found there. But right now.

She wanted to eat. Something warm.
